If your doing a web site about selling books, you may not want hot pink and neon green punk rocker designs. You would probably want something more down to earth, simple colored and appealing to all ages.

The first thing you must do is give some consideration to the type of design you want. Grab a sheet of paper, and on the top write “I want…” and then write down all the things you would like for your web site to have as far as the design goes.

Now your final design doesn’t have to have all of them but this will be a great starting point when you start to go out and browse through designs at such places as Flash Template Designs.
